Cyclone Dana makes landfall in Odisha, heavy rain pounds coastal districts

 The coastal districts of Odisha continued to witness extremely heavy rain and gusty winds reaching speeds of 110 km/h as the severe cyclonic storm Dana made landfall after midnight on Thursday.

The coastal districts of Odisha and parts of West Bengal were battered by the powerful severe cyclonic storm Dana, which made landfall late Thursday night. The storm, with winds exceeding 110 kmh, unleashed heavy rainfall and fierce gusts across the region.


The landfall process started after midnight and is likely to continue until Friday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. The storm was located about 20 km north of Dhamara district and is expected to move west-northwest across northern Odisha and gradually weaken into a cyclonic storm by the forenoon of today, October 25.
